Levi's 501's...

Here's the thing, I've always loved Levi's 501's. It wasn't until a while ago, that I really learned about them.

I recall in juniour high, when an individual in my sewing class pointed out that they were not manufacturing the redlines, any longer.

I've loved the silhouette of a nicely worn pair since I was in juniour high, when they were very popular here.

Partly preppy, partly greaser, or rocker. The 501's could be anything you wanted.

These days, I think of them in the terms I learned, Big E, red line, selvedge, and blue line. And not to be forgotten, Indigo!

I am actually sad that I have to look at the classic jeans in those terms. Learning about the collect ability of these jeans has made my judgmental nature take over. Now when I see someone wearing them, I wonder... Are they redline? Are they Big E's?

I am sad to know as much as I do, now. Every time I see someone wearing a pair, I can't help but look at them closer.

It shouldn't be about how old they are, it's the fit, the buttons, and the tab. And of course how the guy's butt looks in them!
